I'm Dani and I work for Downeast as a boutique brand buyer. I love to travel and just returned from an amazing trip to India! It is always an eye opening experience to travel to another country and experience a new and beautiful culture. I loved visiting India! Here is a little look into my experience there.

On the drive from the airport to the hotel I was immediately shocked at how jam-packed and busy the roads are. Let’s just say there are pretty much no rules on the roads and I feared for my life on multiple occasions lol. But I quickly learned that it is just a way of life there and it works for them! I tried to overcome my fear by looking around the streets while driving and taking in the uniqueness of India. There is so much to take in! It is a completely normal thing to see monkeys, cows and other animals casually strolling the streets. I secretly wanted to bring a monkey home with me. They are sooo cute!

I was amazed at how many different forms of transportation you see in India. They have these things called Tuk Tuks. They have 3 wheels and aren’t enclosed. They were even on the freeways - so crazy!! Motorcycles are also very common on the roads and make it easier to maneuver around the crazy traffic!

There are so many beautiful structures that I visited. Each is unique and beautiful in its own way. The food was also sooo amazing!! I truly didn’t have a meal I didn’t enjoy. I ate to my hearts content and didn’t have a single regret lol. Most of meals there were filled with chicken and were to die for!

I took a picture with a sweet lady dressed in so much CoLoR!! Although we didn’t speak the same language, we were able to communicate in other ways. She was so kind and had the sweetest smile. Two women from two completely different cultures - making a connection. It was an amazing experience for me!

In that moment I had a thought. We didn't know anything about each other - professions, family situations, personal experiences. But that didn’t matter. Human connection is so powerful and is what makes life amazing. I am thankful for that moment and memory I will cherish forever.

India is a world of color! I loved seeing all of the bright colors. Color has been a big aspect of my inspiration in my work as of late so it was so fun to see and be inspired by. India was a beautiful experience. If you haven’t had the chance to explore other cultures, I highly recommend having that experience. It has changed the way I see the world! ♥️
